Supporting a Course

Sunday afternoon, 18th May saw me successfully participating in a 10km "Naturathlon 2008 - The Course of the World" representing Nigeria to join the campaign for the preservation of the world's biodiversity. The Naturathlon was part of the Bundesamt fur Naturschutz (German Federal Office for Nature Conservation) activity to commemorate the Planet Diversity Conference of the UN going on in Bonn.
By the way, biodiversity simply means the enormous variation, that we observe in biological agents like plants, animals, microorganisms etc. living in different ecological systems like land, water and soil.

Isn't it amazing how we move around and we see plants displaying intruiging characteristics some of which could be opening and closing their flowers upon receiving an external stimulus, trapping insects or just having different inviting and beautiful colours or how we watch in documentaries several types of animals living in water and in the wild exhibiting mesmerizing lifestyles that are related or sometimes opposite to human's way of doing things. Life couldn't have been better without these biologically diverse and intricate agents.

At the moment, a lot of them are at the risk of being lost owing to a lot of factors which are predominantly human-induced. The message again is, our world is loosing its beauty and some people must show concern and talk about it. This was why i felt obliged to support this course.

In life, you must stand for something or fall for everything. Men who follow their persuassion and support a course, particularly those that advances the betterment of human existence, are real men. There are too many people who think and dream about change, only a few effect and cause it.

I have decided to be a change-agent in my little capacity and within my limited sphere of influence. I believe i have a responsibility towards making my world a better place.

What is your conviction and what have you decided to do about it?. Support a course today.
